Scott William Carter

Scott William Carter is an accomplished American author, well-known for his versatility in writing mystery and fantasy novels. Raised in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, he has a deep connection with the state, which is reflected in many of his works. He attended the University of Oregon and currently works as a Digital Production & Publishing Specialist at Western Oregon University.

Carter's writing career is marked by numerous awards and a unique style that sets him apart in his genre. His debut novel, "The Last Great Getaway of the Water Balloon Boys," was praised by Publishers Weekly as a "touching and impressive debut" and won an Oregon Book Award. He has since written many books, including the popular Garrison Gage mystery series, set on the Oregon coast, and the Myron Vale Investigations, featuring a private investigator in Portland, Oregon who caters to both the living and the dead. His book for younger readers, "Wooden Bones," tells the untold story of Pinocchio and was highly acclaimed by the Junior Library Guild.

In addition to his writing, Carter is also a cartoonist, creating the Run of the House comic strip. He balances his creative pursuits with a busy professional life, working as an Instructional Designer and Digital Production & Publishing Specialist at Western Oregon University. There, he manages the Digital Media Center, provides training and expertise on various publishing and education topics, and occasionally teaches classes for the English department and the College of Education. Carter is a dedicated father of two and currently resides in Oregon with his family.
