Sebastian Faulks

Sebastian Faulks is a renowned English author, best known for his historical and contemporary fiction novels and non-fiction books. He was born in 1953 and grew up in Newbury, the son of a judge and a repertory actress. Faulks' upbringing in a family of performers and legal professionals had a significant impact on his writing, providing him with a unique perspective that he would later bring to life in his works.

Faulks' education began at Wellington College, followed by studies at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. However, he did not find either institution particularly enjoyable. The male-dominated atmosphere at Cambridge in the 1970s, in particular, left a sour taste in his mouth. Despite these early setbacks, Faulks would go on to have a successful career in journalism, serving as the first literary editor of The Independent and later becoming deputy editor of The Sunday Independent.

Throughout his career, Faulks has made significant contributions to literature, including the creation of the French Trilogy and contributions to the James Bond series (created by Ian Fleming) and the Jeeves & Wooster series (created by P.G. Wodehouse). His work has earned him numerous accolades, including being appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2002. Faulks currently resides in London with his family, where he continues to write and contribute to the literary world.
