Sebastien de Castell is a highly accomplished thriller, mystery, and fantasy author, best known for his series "The Greatcoats." Although he was born in Canada, he also holds British citizenship. Castell's educational background is in Archeology, but he quickly realized that it was not the career for him after working on his first dig.

Castell has had a varied career, having worked in several different fields, including product strategist, musician, actor, ombudsman, project manager, interaction designer, teacher, and fight choreographer. He embraces this diversity, stating that he loves all these things and that they have all influenced his career as an author. In 2014, Castell published his debut novel "Traitor's Blade," which was the first in the swashbuckling "The Greatcoats" fantasy series. The series has been nominated for numerous prestigious awards, including Best Debut at the Gemmell Morningstar Award, Best Fantasy by Goodreads Choice Award, and Best New Writer by the John W Campbell Award. Castell is also the author of the Carnegie Medal nominated "Spellsinger" young adult fantasy series. By 2019, he had published over ten titles and was under contract for six more, as well as a new series. He currently resides in Vancouver, Canada with his wife and two aggressive cats.

Castell's fourteenth novel, "THE MALEVOLENT SEVEN," is about a band of anti-hero mages who may be humanity's last hope.
