Shannon McNear is a best-selling American author, who has written romance, historical fiction, and Christian books. She has been writing since she was in the third grade and completed her first novel at the age of fifteen. However, it was more than thirty years before she received her first book contract. In the meantime, she graduated from high school, attended college, met and married her husband, and raised nine children. Sadly, she also experienced the loss of one of her children. McNear uses her writing to explore real issues, such as loss, cancer, and domestic violence, and her works appeal to adults from all walks of life.
McNear's first novella, "Defending Truth," which was part of "A Pioneer Christmas Collection," was published in 2013 and was nominated for the RITA award in 2014. She is a member of the RWA and ACFW and writes regularly for Colonial Quills. Her most recent novella, "The Wise Guy and the Star in Love's Pure Light," was a 2021 SELAH winner. McNear is represented by Tamela Hancock Murray of the Steve Laube Agency.
Shannon McNear is a military wife and a homeschooling mom. She loves researching local history and has lived in various parts of the country, including the Midwest, Charleston, South Carolina, and North Dakota. When she is not writing, she enjoys spending time outdoors, taking in the beauty of the northern prairies. Despite the many challenges she has faced in her life, McNear has persevered in her writing, creating stories that resonate with readers and explore the complexities of the human experience.
