Sharon Lee is an acclaimed American author, best known for her science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels. She is a co-author of the Liaden Universe series, which includes eighteen novels and a range of short stories, along with her husband Steve Miller. Lee was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1952 and attended Parkville Senior High School, graduating in 1970. She later attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, while working as an administrative assistant. Before becoming a novelist, Lee held various jobs, including secretary, copywriter, call-in show hostess, copy editor, freelance reporter, photographer, book reviewer, and tractor-trailer deliverer.
In addition to her work with Miller, Lee has independently written two anonymous novels. She has also penned five novels set in Maine, where she currently resides. These works include the contemporary fantasy trilogy Carousel Tides, Carousel Sun, Carousel Seas, and mysteries Barnburner and Gunshy. Lee has been married to her first husband for over half her lifetime and is a friend to cats. She is a member of the National Carousel Association and has served as executive director, vice president, and president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America organization.
