Stacy McAnulty is a children's book author known for her engaging picture books and middle-grade novels. She received the 2017 Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Honor for her debut picture book, "Excellent Ed," illustrated by Julia Sarcone-Roach. Among her notable works are "Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years," illustrated by David Litchfield, and "101 Reasons Why I’m Not Taking a Bath," illustrated by Joy Ang. Her debut middle-grade novel, "The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl," became a Junior Library Guild Selection, further establishing her versatility across age groups and genres.
Before pursuing writing full-time, McAnulty worked as a mechanical engineer, bringing a unique analytical perspective to her creative work. Her books often blend humor, science, and relatable childhood experiences, as seen in titles like "Max Explains Everything: Grocery Store Expert" and "Mr. Fuzzbuster Knows He’s the Favorite." McAnulty grew up in upstate New York and now resides in Kernersville, North Carolina, with her family.
