Staton Rabin

Staton Rabin is an award-winning author and screenwriter with a diverse career spanning children's literature, sports photography, and film. Her published works include "Betsy and the Emperor," a historical novel published in 16 languages, and "The Curse of the Romanovs," both from Simon & Schuster. She also penned "Mr. Lincoln's Boys," published by Viking, and collaborated on the memoir "DERBY! My Bodacious Life in Baseball," a humorous and heartfelt account from the perspective of a minor league bat dog. Her books have earned critical acclaim, including starred reviews from "School Library Journal" and "Publishers Weekly", as well as honors such as the New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age and the International Reading Association Distinguished Book award.

With a B.F.A. in film from New York University, Rabin brings a cinematic sensibility to her writing. She has worked as a story analyst for "Scr(i)pt" magazine and advised screenwriters and producers, blending her expertise in storytelling across mediums. Her background in film informs her narrative style, which often emphasizes vivid characterization and dynamic pacing. As a freelance sports photographer, she has captured pivotal moments in baseball, earning a New York Press Club Journalism Award for her work.
