Stephen Baxter

Stephen Baxter is a highly respected author of hard science fiction and alternate history novels. He was born in Liverpool, England and studied mathematics at Cambridge University, earning a doctorate in engineering from Southampton University and an MBA from Henley Management College. Before becoming a full-time author in 1995, Baxter taught mathematics, physics, and IT. He is known for his notable works such as the Xeelee Sequence, Destiny's Children, NASA Trilogy, Manifold Trilogy, Mammoth Trilogy, Time Odyssey (co-written with Arthur C. Clarke), Time's Tapestry, Long Earth (co-written with Terry Pratchett) and Proxima series. Baxter currently resides in Prestwood, England.

In addition to his writing, Baxter is a chartered engineer and fellow of the British Interplanetary Society. He is also the President of the British Science Fiction Association and a Vice-president of the international H.G. Wells Society, reflecting his strong influence by Science Fiction pioneer H.G. Wells. Baxter's distinctions include the British Science Fiction Award and the Locus Award, as well as nominations for an Arthur C. Clarke Award and a Sidewise Award for Best Alternate History Novel of the Year, which he won for his novel Voyage. He also won the John W. Campbell Award and the Philip K. Dick Award for his novel The Time Ships. Currently, he is working on his next novel, a collaboration with Sir Arthur C. Clarke.
