Stephen Shaiken

Stephen Shaiken is an author and former criminal defense lawyer whose writing spans multiple genres, including noir thrillers and historical fiction. Born and raised in New York City, he practiced law for over three decades in San Francisco after earning an MA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. His NJA Series features expat lawyer Glenn Murray Cohen in "exotic noir thrillers" such as "Bangkok Shadows," "Bangkok Whispers," and "Bangkok Blues," all published by Crosswinds Press. His 2022 historical fiction novel, "Queensborough Rock," explores the rock 'n' roll scene in 1970s New York City.

Shaiken's work reflects his diverse experiences, blending legal expertise with a keen eye for cultural and historical detail. His novels often delve into themes of crime, expatriate life, and the vibrant energy of urban settings. Beyond fiction, he writes short stories across genres, from literary to science fiction, several of which have been published.

Now retired from law, Shaiken divides his time between Tampa and Bangkok, where he continues to write while pursuing interests such as music, Thai language studies, and yoga. A fourth installment in the NJA Series is slated for release in the coming year.
