Steve Hamilton is an acclaimed American novelist, best known for his Alex McKnight series. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and attended the University of Michigan, where he won the prestigious Hopwood Award for writing. Currently, he resides in Upstate New York with his wife and two children.
Hamilton is a two-time Edgar Award winner and a New York Times bestselling author. He is one of only two authors in history, along with Ross Thomas, to win the Edgar Award for Best First Novel and then go on to win the Best Novel award later in their career. His work has been nominated for and won every other major crime fiction award in America and the UK, and his books have been translated into twenty languages.
In addition to his success with the Alex McKnight series, Hamilton has also written a standalone novel, The Lock Artist, which is currently in film development. Despite his busy writing career, Hamilton also works full-time at IBM and writes only at night, after his family has gone to sleep.
