Steve Hockensmith

Steve Hockensmith is a successful American author, born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 17, 1968. He is currently residing in the Bay Area, California with his wife, a pet dog, and two children. Hockensmith gained significant recognition for his Holmes on the Range mystery series, which saw its first installment published in 2006. This book became a finalist for both Antony and Edgar Awards, and it marked the beginning of Hockensmith's successful writing career.

In addition to his Holmes on the Range series, Hockensmith has made a name for himself in the world of short mystery fiction. His short story "Erie's Last Day," published in 2000, won him a Derringer Award. Following this success, two of his Larrie Erie short stories, "The Big Road" and "Tricks," were nominated for a Shamus Award. "The Big Road" received further nominations for both Barry and Anthony Awards, demonstrating Hockensmith's versatility and talent in the genre.

Apart from the Holmes on the Range series and his short mystery fiction, Hockensmith has authored various other novels. Among these is the New York Times bestseller "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls." He also wrote "The White Magic Five and Dime," as well as collaborating with educator "Science Bob" Pflugfelder on the middle-grade mystery series "Nick and Tesla."
