Steve Ulfelder

Steve Ulfelder is a mystery author who has had an accomplished career in various fields, including journalism, auto racing, and entrepreneurship. He worked as a technology and business journalist for over two decades, contributing to notable publications such as Boston Magazine, Boston Globe, and San Francisco Chronicle. After his journalism career, Ulfelder co-founded Flatout Motorsports, a company involved in building and servicing race cars. As a co-owner and the Chief Marketing Officer, Ulfelder is able to indulge in his hobby of auto racing.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Ulfelder is an award-winning author. His first mystery series features Conway Sax, a recovering alcoholic who solves mysteries for his renegade AA group. The series debut, Purgatory Chasm, was nominated for Edgar and Anthony Awards as Best First Novel of 2011 and won the title from RT Book Reviews. The Conway Sax series has been well-received and has drawn comparisons to the work of notable authors such as Dennis Lehane, Elmore Leonard, and Michael Connelly.

Ulfelder has also expanded his writing to include other series and genres. His new series features rookie private eye Arch Dixon and his band of misfit good (mostly) guys, with the first book, One Mississippi, debuting in the fall of 2019. He has also written a Young Adult novel, Drive It Like You Stole It, which draws on his passions for race cars and rescue greyhounds. Despite moving from Massachusetts to the Texas Hill Country, Ulfelder continues to set his books in his former home. Readers can learn more about Ulfelder and his work by visiting his website.
