Steven Axelrod is an accomplished American author, best known for his Henry Kennis Mystery series. The series, which includes novels such as "Nantucket Sawbuck" and "Nantucket Five-Spot," is set on Nantucket Island, where Axelrod currently resides.
Axelrod was born in New York City and grew up in Beverly Hills and Manhattan. He comes from a family with a strong background in the film industry, as his father, George Axelrod, was a playwright and screenwriter who worked on notable films such as "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "The Manchurian Candidate." This upbringing in the movie business had a significant impact on Axelrod's life and career.
Axelrod holds an MFA in writing from the Vermont College of the Fine Arts and is a member of the Writers Guild of America. Before focusing on his mystery novels, he worked as a Hollywood screenwriter. In addition to the Henry Kennis Mystery series, he has also written a dark noir thriller called "Heat of the Moment," which is set to be published by Gutter Books.
Axelrod is a prolific writer and contributes to several publications, including Canadian author Douglas Glover's on-line arts journal "Numero Cinq" and the blog "ThreGoodmenProject." He has also written articles for Salon.com and has reviewed notable works such as Dave Eggers' novel "The Circle." When he's not writing, Axelrod can often be found painting houses on Nantucket Island, where he lives with his two children.
