Steven Hartov is an accomplished author known for his espionage novels and military-themed works. Born in New London, Connecticut, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University before embarking on a distinguished military career. His experiences in the U.S. Merchant Marine Military Sealift Command and the Israel Defense Forces Airborne Corps, where he served in Special Operations, heavily influenced his writing. Hartov gained recognition for his Middle East espionage trilogy, comprising "The Heat of Ramadan," "The Nylon Hand of God," and "The Devil’s Shepherd," which earned nominations for the National Book Award and translations into six languages.
Hartov’s expertise in military affairs extends beyond fiction. He co-authored the "New York Times" bestseller "In the Company of Heroes" and penned other notable nonfiction works like "The Night Stalkers" and "Afghanistan on the Bounce." His recent focus has shifted to historical fiction, with his WWII trilogy beginning with "The Soul of a Thief" and continuing with "The Last of the Seven." A former Editor-in-Chief of "Special Operations Report", Hartov’s works are recommended by the U.S. Army War College, cementing his reputation as a leading voice in military literature.
