Steven Konkoly is a successful American author, well-known for his techno-thriller novels. He was born in the United States and attended the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English literature in 1993. After graduation, Konkoly spent the next eight years serving in various Navy and Marine Corps units, gaining valuable experience that would later lend authenticity to his thrillers.
During his time in the military, Konkoly held leadership positions and participated in a range of operations, including visit, board, search, and seizure operations in the Arabian Gulf. His duties took him to many different parts of the world, including a two-year tour of duty in Japan and travel to over twenty countries throughout Asia and the Middle East. Konkoly's military experience, which included enforcing United Nations sanctions against Iraq and directing aircraft bombing runs as a Forward Air Controller, provided him with a unique perspective that he has since brought to his writing.
Konkoly is a prolific author, having written ten novels and several novellas. His works include the popular Black Flagged series, a gritty, no-holds barred covert operations and espionage saga; The Perseid Collapse series, a post-apocalyptic thriller epic; and The Fractured State series, a near future, dystopian thriller trilogy set in the drought ravaged southwest. In addition to these series, Konkoly has also written standalone novels and a commissioned trilogy of novellas based on the popular Wayward Pines series.
In addition to his writing, Konkoly is an active member of the International Thriller Writers (ITW) and Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) organizations. He still wakes up early in the morning to write for most of the day, and when he is not writing, he enjoys spending time outdoors or traveling with his family and dog. Konkoly's books have been well-received by readers and critics alike, with many of his novels becoming bestsellers on Amazon and the Wall Street Journal.
