Suanne Laqueur is an accomplished American author with a background in dance and theater. Prior to becoming a novelist, Laqueur was a professional dancer and a teacher, having graduated from Alfred University with a double major in dance and theater. She then went on to teach at the Carol Bierman School of Ballet Arts in Croton-on-Hudson for ten years. Laqueur's passion for the arts is evident in her writing, which has been described as emotionally intelligent and contemporary.
Laqueur's novels have received critical acclaim, with her debut novel, "The Man I Love," winning multiple awards including the 2015 Readers' Favorite Book Awards gold medal and the Feathered Quill Book Awards as a Best Debut. Her follow-up novel, "Give Me Your Answer True," also won the gold medal at the 2016 RFBA. Most recently, her novel "An Exaltation of Larks" was the winner of the Writers’ Digest Grand Prize in 2017 and the North Street Book Prize in 2019. Her novels are known for their focus on both romantic and familial relationships, as well as psychology, PTSD and generational trauma.
In addition to her work as an author, Laqueur is an avid reader, cook, and gardener. She also maintains a blog, EatsReadsThinks, where she shares her thoughts on a variety of topics. She currently resides in Westchester County, New York with her husband and two children. Laqueur continues to write and release new novels, maintaining her reputation as a talented and thought-provoking author in contemporary fiction.
