Sulari Gentill is a highly acclaimed Australian author, best known for her popular Rowland Sinclair Mysteries series. Set in the 1930s, these historical crime novels follow the life and adventures of Gentill's 1930s Australian gentleman artist, Rowland Sinclair. Her writing is not limited to this series, however, as she has also written fantasy stories that draw upon classical mythology.
Before becoming an author, Gentill worked as a corporate lawyer, serving as a director on public boards. Despite her success in this field, she always felt a nagging sensation that she was meant to do something else. This feeling persisted until she began to write, and she has since become a successful and prolific author. In addition to the Rowland Sinclair Mysteries, she has written the Hero Trilogy, which is based on the myths and epics of the ancient world, and the novel Crossing the Lines, which won the Ned Kelly Award in Australia.
Gentill's writing has also been featured in collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria, where she wrote a short story for the Fashion Detective Exhibition. She has been recognized for her contributions to Australian crime writing and was sponsored by the Australia Council to tour the US as an ambassador of Australian Crime Writing in 2019. Gentill currently lives on a small farm in Batlow, where she grows French Black Truffles and refers to her writing as "work" so that no one will suggest she get a real job. Her latest novel, The Woman in the Library, will be released on 7 June 2022.
