Susan Cox is a cozy mystery author who hails from Florida, but she also feels at home in California. After attending the University of San Francisco, Cox became a journalist and fundraiser for various non-profit organizations, including the University Of San Francisco School Of Law and the Bar Association of San Francisco. She spent over two decades in this role before deciding to become a full-time author. Cox now resides in South Florida, where she writes her novels. She has a strong connection to England, thanks to her large and boisterous extended family, making her a transatlantic and transcontinental author.
Cox's first novel, "The Man on the Washing Machine," was the winner of the Mystery Writers of America/Minotaur Books First Crime Novel competition in 2015. She has been inspired by the works of Ngaio Marsh, Dorothy Sayers, and Agatha Christie. As an accomplished author, Cox also teaches in seminars and workshops, although she notes that she has learned just as much from her students as they have from her. She is an active member of the writing community and is associated with the Mystery Writers of America. When she is not writing, Cox enjoys sipping coffee on her balcony or taking her standard poodle, Picasso, for a walk.
Cox was born in England, just like the heroine of her traditional mysteries. Before becoming a published author, she worked as a journalist, non-profit fundraiser, and marketing specialist for a safari park. Cox is a Star Trek geek and has a Starfleet Academy decal on her car. She also has a collection of first editions, signed editions, and other interesting mysteries. Additionally, Cox collects royal commemorative mugs, produced for the births, Christenings, marriages, and coronations of the English Royals, which she loves beyond reason. She is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and her first published mystery novel, "The Man on the Washing Machine," was the winning entry in the First Crime Novel competition jointly sponsored by the Mystery Writers of America and Minotaur Books. The second Theo Bogart mystery, "The Man in the Microwave Oven," was released in November 2020 by Minotaur Books.
