Susan Gable, a USA Today bestselling author, has had a lifelong love for books. This love was cultivated at a young age when her mother enrolled her in the Weekly Book Reader Club when she was just four years old. Growing up in a household of readers, Gable did well in school and was known for finishing her work quickly so that she could spend more time reading. She was such a voracious reader that she was voted Class Bookworm in high school and was also named Valedictorian.
Gable was born and raised in New Jersey, but has lived in Erie, Pennsylvania for over two decades. Throughout her childhood, she enjoyed writing stories and poetry, and even wrote the lyrics to her high school's alma mater. However, she never considered a career as a writer until much later in life. After graduating from college, Gable became an elementary teacher, passing on her love for books and reading to children. It wasn't until she moved to Erie, Pennsylvania and found it difficult to obtain a teacher's certificate that she turned to writing fiction as a way to restore her sanity.
Gable started by dabbling in fanfiction and quickly discovered a passion for writing romance. In 1999, she made a New Year's resolution to learn all she could about writing romance and to sell a novel by the time she turned 40. She worked hard to achieve this goal and in 2002, she received the life-changing call from Harlequin Superromance ®, offering to buy her novel, The Baby Plan. Gable is now an independent author, enjoying the freedom and control that comes with self-publishing. She hopes that her readers will enjoy her books.
