Susan Wittig Albert

Susan Wittig Albert is a prolific American author, best known for her mystery novels which often fall into the cozy sub-genre. She has written multiple series, including the China Bayles herbal mysteries, the Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter, the Robin Paige Victorian Mysteries, and the Darling Dahlias series. In addition to writing under her own name, Albert has also published works under the pseudonyms Carolyn Keene and Robin Paige.

Albert was born in Vermillion County, Illinois on January 2, 1940. She attended Danville High School and went on to study at the University of Illinois, where she received her English degree. She continued her education at the University of California at Berkley, pursuing her PhD in English. After completing her doctorate, Albert began her professional career as a college professor at the University of Texas at Austin. She advanced in the academic ranks, holding positions at Sophie Newcomb University in New Orleans, Louisiana and Southwest Texas State University, where she served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Now in her 80s, Albert continues to write and publish books under her own imprint. Her latest works include "A Plain Vanilla Murder," the 27th book in the China Bayles/Pecan Springs series, as well as two novella trilogies: "The Crystal Cave Trilogy" and "The Enterprise Trilogy." She has also written historical fiction, such as "The General's Women" and "Loving Eleanor," as well as nonfiction works like "Work of Her Own: A Woman's Guide to Right Livelihood" and "Writing from Life: Telling Your Soul's Story." Albert is a writer of many genres, including mystery, historical fiction, and memoir. She currently resides in the Hill Country of Central Texas, where she writes, gardens, raises chickens, and practices the fiber arts.
