Susanna Daniel is an acclaimed novelist known for her evocative storytelling and richly drawn characters. Her debut novel, "Stiltsville," won the 2011 PEN/Bingham Prize for outstanding debut work and was recognized by Oprah.com, Amazon.com, and the Huffington Post as one of the best books of 2010. Her second novel, "Sea Creatures," a Target Book Club selection, was praised as "a captivating, haunting novel" by Abraham Verghese. Both works reflect her deep connection to Miami, where she spent much of her childhood at her family’s stilt house in Biscayne Bay.
Daniel holds degrees from Columbia University and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she honed her craft. She was a Carl Djerassi Fiction Fellow at the University of Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing and co-founded the Madison Writers’ Studio with author Michelle Wildgen. Her writing has appeared in publications such as Newsweek, Slate, and One Story, showcasing her versatility across genres. Currently residing in Madison, Wisconsin, she continues to draw inspiration from her coastal roots while working on her third novel.
