Susanna Hoffs, a highly regarded figure in the world of pop music, was born and raised in Los Angeles. She was surrounded by a diverse range of creative influences, including writers, filmmakers, and painters, from a young age. Hoffs' love for music, particularly the sounds of the 1960s, was nurtured in this environment. She pursued her passion for the arts in college and was particularly inspired by new wave and punk. This inspiration led her to start her first band with David Roback, which was focused on exploring and expressing their shared love for the darker, more beautiful aspects of theater, music, art, and photography.
Hoffs is perhaps best known as a co-founder of the Bangles, a successful all-female rock band that formed in 1981. The group released a string of chart-topping singles and gained a large following before Hoffs embarked on a solo career. Her solo work has been met with critical acclaim, adding to her reputation as a talented and respected musician.
In addition to her music career, Hoffs has also ventured into the world of literature with the publication of her first novel, "This Bird Has Flown." She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, filmmaker Jay Roach.
