Susanna Jones is a British author known for her atmospheric and psychologically nuanced fiction. Born in Hull in 1967, she grew up in East Yorkshire before studying drama at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her work has been translated into over twenty languages and has earned critical acclaim, including the CWA John Creasey Dagger, a Betty Trask Award, and the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize.
Jones spent several years living abroad, with extended stays in Turkey and Japan, where she taught English and worked as an assistant editor and presenter for NHK Radio. These international experiences often inform her writing, which explores themes of displacement, identity, and human relationships. After completing an MA in Novel Writing at the University of Manchester in 1996, she began lecturing in Creative Writing at Royal Holloway. Now based in Brighton, she co-founded The Brighton Moment, a collaborative arts initiative. Her novels are celebrated for their evocative prose and compelling narratives.
