Susanne Pari

Susanne Pari is a highly accomplished author and journalist. She has established herself as a significant voice in the literary world, with her work spanning various genres including fiction, non-fiction, and essay writing. Born in New Jersey to an Iranian father and an American mother, Pari's writing draws from her unique perspective and experiences growing up in both the United States and Iran. Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Pari's family was forced into permanent exile, further informing her writing on themes of displacement, belonging, identity, assimilation, trauma, and resilience.

Pari's first novel, "The Fortune Catcher," tells the story of a young woman navigating the aftermath of the Iranian Revolution, and has been translated into six languages. Her second novel, "IN THE TIME OF OUR HISTORY," explores the complexities of an Iranian American family grappling with generational culture clashes and the rebellion of its women. The novel has received critical acclaim and is an IndieNext pick, Target Book Club pick, Women’s National Book Association Group Reads Selection, and a Hoopla Spotlight Selection.

In addition to her work as a novelist, Pari is an accomplished book reviewer and interviewer, contributing to various publications such as The New York Times Sunday Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle, National Public Radio, and Medium. She has also been involved in various literary organizations, serving as the Program Director for the 25 literary salons of Book Group Expo and contributing to the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies. Pari is also a mentor to immigrant and first generation writers and has been involved in various writing programs and contests, including teaching writing for the Afghan Women's Writing Project and serving as a judge for The California Center for the Book’s Letters About Literature Contest. She is a member of several prestigious literary organizations, including the National Book Critics Circle, PEN America, and The San Francisco Writers’ Grotto. Pari currently divides her time between Northern California and New York.
