Suzette D. Harrison is an award-winning author who has written several books celebrating African American life and culture. She was born and raised in California and grew up in a household where reading was not only encouraged but required. Harrison's literary career began in junior high school when she started publishing her poetry. She has credited authors such as Alex Haley, Gloria Naylor, Alice Walker, Langston Hughes, and Toni Morrison as her inspiration, with Dr. Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings being a particularly influential work for her.
Harrison is known for creating complex characters and storylines with intricate layers and unexpected plot twists. While she enjoys writing stories with happy endings, she doesn't shy away from exploring the flaws and struggles of her characters. In addition to her writing, Harrison also has a culinary degree in Pastry & Baking and enjoys baking when she's not working on her next novel. She is currently married with children and is working on her next book, taking a break only to bake cupcakes.
Harrison has written ten books, including "Taffy" and "My Name is Ona Judge." She has received several awards for her writing and continues to be a popular author in the romance, historical fiction, and humor and comedy genres. While she is active on social media, she prefers to let her writing speak for itself and does not have a strong online presence beyond her books. Harrison's work is a testament to her love for storytelling and her passion for celebrating African American culture and history.
