Sweeney Boo is a Montreal-based comic artist and illustrator known for her work with major publishers such as DC Comics, BOOM! Studios, Archie Comics, IDW, Marvel, and Image Comics. She gained recognition with her debut graphic novel, "Eat, and Love Yourself," a deeply personal 150-page story exploring themes of eating disorders, depression, and self-love, which was initially funded through a successful 2016 Kickstarter campaign before being published by BOOM! Studios in 2020. Her follow-up work, "Over My Dead Body," further solidified her reputation as a compelling graphic novelist.
Originally from southwest France, Sweeney studied graphic design before establishing herself as a comic letterer and colorist for French publishers. After relocating to Canada in 2015, she balanced her career as a 2D artist for a mobile game company with her passion for comics, eventually breaking into the industry with contributions to "Rat Queens" (Image Comics) in 2016. Her artistic versatility also led her to design costumes for characters like America Chavez in Marvel's "Marvel Rising" series.
Sweeney's distinctive style often features edgy, fashion-forward female characters, particularly witches, reflecting her love of bold aesthetics. When not illustrating, she enjoys true crime documentaries and indulging in fine cheeses, accompanied by her feline companion, Loki. She now works full-time as a freelance artist, continuing to expand her portfolio with evocative storytelling and striking visuals.
