Tabor Evans

Tabor Evans is a pseudonym that has been used by various authors, most notably Lou Cameron, to write the Longarm series of books. This series features the adventures of Custis Long, a U.S. Deputy Marshal based in Denver, Colorado in the 1880s. The character of Longarm and the initial books in the series were created by Lou Cameron, who established the pseudonym of Tabor Evans for the Jove Books publishing label in the 1970s.

Lou Cameron was an American novelist who was well regarded for his Western titles, which he wrote under the name of Tabor Evans. Over the course of his career, Cameron produced a significant number of Western titles, with many of them being released under the Tabor Evans pseudonym. The Longarm series, in particular, was a major focus for Cameron, with over 430 titles published to date. However, the name Tabor Evans would eventually become a house name for Jove Books, with other authors also contributing to the series.

Other authors who have written books in the Longarm series include Melvin Marshall, Will C. Knott, Frank Roderus, Chet Cunningham, J. Lee Butts, Gary McCarthy, James Reasoner, Jeffrey M. Wallmann, Peter Brandvold, and Harry Whittington. In addition to the standard-sized books, there are also 29 "Giant" editions that have been published. The Longarm series is a mainstay of the "adult western" genre, which gained popularity in the 1970s and is distinguished by the inclusion of more explicit sex and violence than classical Westerns.
