Taiyo Fujii

Taiyo Fujii is a Japanese science fiction writer known for his technologically driven narratives and innovative storytelling. Born in 1971 on Amami Ōshima Island, Fujii gained prominence with his debut novel, "Gene Mapper," which he initially self-published digitally in 2012 before revising it as "Gene Mapper - full build - " in 2013. His second novel, "Orbital Cloud," earned critical acclaim, winning both the Nihon SF Taisho Award and the Seiun Award for Japanese Long Form in 2015. Several of his works, including short stories like "Violation of the TrueNet Security Act" and "A Fair War," have been translated into English.

Before establishing himself as an author, Fujii worked in diverse creative fields, including stage design, graphic design, and software development. His technical expertise informs his writing, which often explores themes of digital security, artificial intelligence, and futuristic technology. In addition to his literary achievements, Fujii served as the 18th chairman of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of Japan (SFWJ). His novella collection, "Hello, World!," further solidified his reputation, earning the 40th Yoshikawa Eiji Prize for New Writers. Fujii continues to be a significant voice in contemporary Japanese science fiction.
