Tanya Guerrero

Tanya Guerrero is an author of Filipino and Spanish heritage whose work spans middle grade fiction and adult literature. She has published three acclaimed middle grade novels with Farrar, Straus and Giroux BYR: "How to Make Friends with the Sea" (2020), "All You Knead is Love" (2021), and "Adrift" (2022). These works have earned recognition including state award nominations, Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection honors, and the Gourmand Award for Best Food Fiction. Her upcoming adult debut, "Cat's People," described as the cat book of her heart, is slated for publication by Delacorte/Penguin Random House in spring 2025.

Born in the Philippines and raised across three countries—the Philippines, Spain, and the United States—Guerrero brings multicultural perspectives to her writing. She currently resides in a shipping container home in Manila with her family and numerous rescued animals. An active volunteer in animal welfare since 2008, her passion for Trap/Neuter/Return and Rescue/Foster/Adopt initiatives informs her compassionate storytelling. When not writing, Guerrero cultivates her own food, bakes, and enjoys reading.
