Terry Fallis

Terry Fallis is a renowned Canadian author, known for his political satire novels. He was born in Toronto and earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University. Following his graduation, Fallis became involved in politics, working on various political staffs, including for future Prime Minister Jean Chretien’s Leadership campaign in 1984. He also worked for the international PR firm Hill and Knowlton and later co-founded Thornley Fallis, a full-service communications consulting agency.

Fallis is a prolific and successful writer, with six of his books becoming national bestsellers. His debut novel, The Best Laid Plans, won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humor in 2008 and was later crowned the winner of CBC Canada Reads in 2011 as the "essential Canadian novel of the decade." The book was also adapted into a 6-part TV mini-series and stage musical. Fallis' subsequent novels, The High Road, Up and Down, No Relation, Poles Apart, One Brother Shy, Albatross, Operation Angus, and A New Season, have all been critically acclaimed and commercial successes.

Fallis's writing is known for its wit, humor, and insightful commentary on politics and society. He has won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humor twice and has been a finalist for several other prestigious awards.
