Terry Fan is a talented picture book author and illustrator, who has created a number of successful works in collaboration with his brother, Eric. The pair are known collectively as The Fan Brothers, and their debut picture book, "The Night Gardener," received considerable acclaim, with starred reviews from Kirkus and Publisher’s Weekly, and was named Amazon’s Best Book of the Year, ages 6-8 in 2016.
Terry Fan grew up with a natural affinity for art, having begun doodling before he could even talk. He pursued formal art training at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada. Fan's work is a unique blend of traditional and contemporary techniques, often using ink or graphite combined with digital media. He spends his days and nights creating magical paintings, portraits, and prints, drawing inspiration from his surroundings.
In addition to "The Night Gardener," The Fan Brothers have collaborated on several other successful picture books, including "It Fell from the Sky," "Lizzy and the Cloud," "The Darkest Dark," and "The Antlered Ship". Their latest book, "Ocean Meets Sky," is set to publish on May 15th, 2018. Fan's work has been well-received by critics and readers alike, earning multiple starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus, Booklist, and SLJ. Born in Illinois, Fan now resides in Toronto, Canada, near the shores of Lake Ontario, which he imagines to be the sea.
