Tessa Gratton

Tessa Gratton is a highly acclaimed author, born in Okinawa, Japan, in 1980. She was raised on military bases around the world due to her father's career in the US Navy. Gratton eventually settled in the United States, where she pursued higher education at the University of Kansas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Gender Studies in 2003.

Gratton has established herself as a prominent author in the Science Fiction and Fantasy (SFF) genre for both adults and young adults. Her work has been widely recognized and appreciated, with several of her novels and short stories translated into twenty-two languages. Two of her notable works have been nominated for the Otherwise Award, and many have been selected for the Junior Library Guild. Her most recent novels include the dark queer fairy tales "Strange Grace" and "Night Shine," as well as the queer Shakespeare retelling "Lady Hotspur."

Gratton's recent projects include the YA fantasy "Chaos and Flame," released in 2023, and several novels in the "Star Wars: The High Republic" series. She currently resides in Kansas with her wife, after having lived in various parts of the world. Gratton identifies as queer and nonbinary and prefers she/any pronouns.
