Thomas Enger is a distinguished Norwegian author and journalist, best known for his Henning Juul series of books. These mystery and thriller novels have been translated and sold in over 30 countries, solidifying Enger's reputation as a master of the genre.
Born in Oslo in 1973, Enger grew up in Jessheim and was influenced by his educator father and physiotherapist mother. His upbringing emphasized the importance of education and health, with sports playing a significant role in his childhood. An avid soccer player, Enger dreamed of playing professionally for Manchester United, but his athletic career peaked at the Norwegian third division for Kisa/Ull. Despite his passion for soccer, Enger's early experiences with summer jobs, such as mowing lawns, working at the airport, and attending to a kiosk at a mall, foreshadowed his future career in journalism and writing.
Enger pursued an education in journalism and also studied sports and history. He spent nine years working at the Norwegian online newspaper Nettavisen. Alongside his journalistic pursuits, Enger has been composing music and writing books since the age of 18. His musical talents extend beyond writing, as he is also working on a musical. His debut novel, Skinndød, was published in 2010, marking the beginning of the Henning Juul series, which has captivated readers with its suspenseful storytelling and intriguing protagonist.
