Thomas K. Carpenter is an American author who has made a name for himself in various genres, including young adult dystopia, post-cyberpunk science fiction, steampunk, historical fantasy, and alternate history. Some of his most popular series include "The Alexandrian Saga," "Dashkova Memoirs," "Hundred Halls," "Reluctant Assassin," and the "Digital Sea" trilogy. When he is not writing, Carpenter enjoys playing games, listening to music, and traveling. He currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife and two children.
Carpenter's love for writing can be traced back to his childhood, when he wrote a short speculative fiction story as a nine or ten-year-old. After graduating with a Metallurgical Engineering degree from the University of Missouri Rolla, he went back to college in 2006 to obtain his MBA. It was then that he decided to pursue a career in writing. Since publishing his debut novel, "The Digital Sea," in 2010, Carpenter has become a prolific author, with over thirty-five novels under his belt. He attributes his productivity to his habit of simply sitting down and writing. Some of his biggest influences include Lin-Manuel Miranda, George R.R. Martin, Ken Liu, and Stephen King.
Carpenter is a full-time contemporary fantasy author with over 50 independently published titles. His bestselling "Hundred Halls" series has over 25 books and counting. The series, which focuses on fantastic families, magical academies, and epic adventures, can be found at major retailers and directly from the author's website. In his free time, Carpenter enjoys playing turn-based strategy games, skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his wife and their little dog, Loki, at their home in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
