Tim Ellis is an English author who has written books in various genres, including crime fiction, historical fiction, and thrillers. Born in a Hammersmith, London hospital on a stormy night in 1953, Ellis grew up in Cheadle, Cheshire. He is a high school dropout, having never graduated from Broadway Secondary School. However, he discovered his passion for literature and music at a young age, and began writing poetry after meeting Leonard Cohen at the age of 15. Despite facing initial rejection from publishers, Ellis continued to pursue his passion for writing.
Ellis served in the Royal Army Medical Corps for 22 years and rose to the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. After retiring from the army, he held various positions in education before retiring to write full-time. He has a PhD and an MBA in Educational Management, as well as an MA in Education. Ellis currently resides in Essex with his wife.
In addition to his writing, Ellis has had a varied career in education. After leaving the army, he worked in secondary education as a senior financial manager, and later in higher education as an associate lecturer/tutor at Lincoln and Anglia Ruskin Universities. He also worked as a consultant for the National College of School Leadership. His final job before retiring to write full-time was as Head and teacher of Behavioural Sciences (Psychology/Sociology) in a secondary school.
Ellis is the author of several series, including the Quigg series and the Parish & Richards series. His first novel, "The Knowledge of Time: Second Civilization," was published in 2008. He currently lives in Essex with his wife.
