Tim Pears

Tim Pears is a highly acclaimed English author, best known for his novels that have won numerous awards. He was born in Devon in 1963 and left school at the young age of sixteen. After leaving school, Pears worked in a variety of unskilled jobs, including painter, decorator, farm laborer, nurse in a mental hospital, college night porter, and many others. These experiences in different walks of life have greatly influenced his writing, providing him with a wealth of material to draw from.

Pears' literary career took off with the publication of his debut novel, "In the Place of Fallen Leaves," in 1993, the same month he graduated from the National Film and Television School's Directing course. This novel was a critical success, winning both the Hawthornden Prize and the Ruth Hadden Memorial Award. This early recognition established Pears as a talented writer and set the stage for his future works.

In addition to "In the Place of Fallen Leaves," Pears has written several other novels, including "In a Land of Plenty" and "A Revolution of the Sun". He is also the author of the West Country Trilogy of books. These works have further cemented his reputation as a skilled storyteller and have earned him a devoted following of readers.
