Tobias Madden

Tobias Madden is an Australian author and editor known for his contributions to young adult fiction. Originally from Ballarat, he gained recognition in 2019 for editing and publishing "UNDERDOG," the first #LoveOzYA short story anthology showcasing unpublished Australian YA writers. His debut novel, "Anything But Fine," released in 2021, earned critical acclaim, winning the Australian Association of Family Therapy’s Book Award for Older Readers and receiving multiple accolades, including a spot on Bank Street College of Education’s Best Children’s Books of the Year list. His subsequent works, "Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell" and "Wrong Answers Only," further solidified his presence in contemporary YA literature.

Before transitioning to writing, Madden spent a decade as a performer, touring Australia and New Zealand in productions like "Mary Poppins," "CATS," and "Guys and Dolls." His theatrical background informs his dynamic storytelling, often blending humor and heartfelt themes. A vocal advocate for the #LoveOzYA and LGBTQ+ communities, his narratives frequently explore identity, relationships, and self-discovery. In addition to his novels, he co-wrote the cabaret show "Siblingship," which enjoyed sold-out runs in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra.

Currently based in New York City with his husband and their Cavoodle, Madden continues to expand his literary career while working in publishing as a Digital Marketing Executive and YA Publicist. His third novel, "Wrong Answers Only," released in Australia, is slated for a US publication in October 2024, marking his growing international reach.
