Tochi Onyebuchi is an accomplished American author, known for his Nigerian-influenced fantasy novels. Born in Massachusetts and raised in Connecticut, Onyebuchi is a true New Englander at heart. He is a graduate of several prestigious institutions, including Yale University, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia Law School, and L’institut d’études politiques, where he earned a Masters degree in Global Business Law.
Onyebuchi’s writing career has seen him produce a number of highly regarded works of both fiction and non-fiction. His novels, which include Beasts Made of Night and its sequel Crown of Thunder, as well as War Girls and Riot Baby, have been published by Tor.com. His short fiction has been featured in a variety of publications, such as Asimov's Science Fiction, Omenana, and Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America. Onyebuchi’s non-fiction has been published in outlets including Uncanny Magazine, Nowhere Magazine, Tor.com, and the Harvard Journal of African-American Public Policy.
In addition to his written work, Onyebuchi has also worked in a number of other fields, including criminal justice, the tech industry, and immigration law. He has been recognized for his achievements with a number of awards, including the Ilube Nommo Award for Best Speculative Fiction Novel by an African. His writing has also been featured in Locus Magazine's Recommended Reading list.
