Tom Rachman

Tom Rachman is an accomplished author known for his critically acclaimed fiction. His bestselling debut novel, "The Imperfectionists" (2010), was translated into 25 languages and established his literary reputation. He followed this success with "The Rise & Fall of Great Powers" (2014) and the satirical audiobook-in-stories "Basket of Deplorables" (2017). His upcoming novel, "The Italian Teacher" (2018), explores the art world, marking his fourth published work.

Born in London and raised in Vancouver, Rachman studied cinema at the University of Toronto and journalism at Columbia University. His international career began as a foreign-news editor at The Associated Press in New York, followed by postings as a correspondent in Rome and reporter across Asia and the Middle East. He later transitioned to fiction writing while working as an editor at the International Herald Tribune in Paris. His journalism has appeared in prominent publications including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Rachman currently resides in London, where he continues to write.
