Tony Blair

Tony Blair is a British lawyer, politician, and author who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007. As leader of the Labour Party, he secured three consecutive general election victories, marking the longest uninterrupted tenure of any Labour prime minister. His administration oversaw significant economic growth and played a pivotal role in brokering the Northern Ireland peace agreement. Blair's political career began in 1983 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Sedgefield, later ascending to party leadership following John Smith's death in 1994.

Beyond his political career, Blair has authored several works reflecting on governance and global affairs. His post-premiership roles include serving as the Quartet Representative to the Middle East, advocating for Palestinian statehood on behalf of the United Nations, European Union, Russia, and the United States. He founded the Tony Blair Faith Foundation to promote interreligious dialogue and established the Africa Governance Initiative to support policy development in Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Blair also prioritized climate change advocacy, notably advancing the issue during the 2005 G8 summit. Born in Edinburgh in 1953, he is married to Cherie Booth QC and has four children.
