Tony Brasunas

Tony Brasunas is a nonpartisan freelance journalist and author whose works span memoir, travel writing, and media critique. His debut book, "Double Happiness," a memoir chronicling his transformative experiences as a teacher and traveler in China, earned accolades including Best Travel Book at the Indie Excellence Book Awards and Best Memoir at the Paris Book Festival. His second book, "Red, White & Blind," published in 2023, examines disinformation in American media and offers a path forward amid political polarization, drawing from his own experience of being censored by Huffington Post for his coverage of the 2016 Democratic primary.

Brasunas grew up at Claymont, an intentional spiritual community in West Virginia, before attending Milton High School in Atlanta and graduating from Amherst College. His writing reflects a blend of introspection and investigative rigor, often exploring themes of cultural exchange, media integrity, and personal growth. Beyond writing, he develops software, enjoys music and sports, and continues to travel extensively. He resides in Sebastopol, California, with his family and an orchard of apple trees.
