Tracy Grant is an American author who has made a name for herself in the genres of mystery, historical fiction, and mystery romance novels. She also writes under the name Teresa Grant. From a young age, Grant has been creating stories and developing her craft as a writer. She realized her talent for plot-making and character creation in the third grade and has been writing ever since. Grant studied British History at Stanford University, where she received the Firestone Award for Excellence in Research for her honors thesis on shifting conceptions of honor in late fifteenth century England.
In addition to her writing, Grant is a member of the board of the Merola Opera Program, a professional training program for opera singers, coaches, pianists, and stage directors. She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her young daughter, Melanie, who is a great inspiration to her writing career. Grant's real-life heroine is her daughter, who is very cooperative about Mummy's writing.
Grant is influenced by a variety of sources, including classic literature, films, and television shows. She was particularly inspired by the Laurence Olivier-Greer Garson adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice" and the novels of Georgette Heyer, which cemented her love for the Regency era. Grant also finds inspiration in the works of Dorothy Dunnett, Dorothy Sayers, Tom Stoppard, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The X-Files. She is currently working on her next historical mystery novel, which chronicles the espionage adventures of Regency-era spy couple Malcolm and Mélanie Suzanne Rannoch. Grant is also an avid reader and enjoys the works of Lauren Willig, Deborah Crombie, C.S. Harris, Tasha Alexander, and Deanna Raybourn.
