Trevor Negus was born in Enfield, north London and spent his early childhood in Waltham Cross. When he was eight, his parents emigrated to Australia, where he lived for over two years in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. The family returned to the UK in 1971 and settled in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. In 1975, Negus joined the Nottinghamshire Constabulary as a Police Cadet, becoming a regular officer in 1978. As a uniform constable, he learned the ropes in the high-crime environment of inner city Nottingham.
Negus had a varied thirty-year police career, spending six years as an authorized firearms officer and sniper before transferring to the CID. During the last twelve years of his career, he became a specialist interviewer, involved in planning and implementing interviews with murder suspects. After retiring from the police in 2007, Negus became the Director of a Specialist Laser Clinic and Training Academy. He has been a keen writer throughout his adult life and decided to devote more time to writing after leaving the police force. Negus self-published six crime thrillers before being signed by MMB Creative and now writes full-time. He has signed a book deal with Inkubator Books to write a series of crime thrillers involving Detective Chief Inspector Danny Flint. The Flint series of crime thrillers is set in 1980's Nottinghamshire, with the first book, Evil in Mind, set in 1984 during the bitter miners' strike. The second book, Dead and Gone, was released alongside the first, and the third book, A Cold Grave, was released in August 2021. The fourth book in the series, Taken to Die, was released in August 2021, and the fifth book, Kill for You, will be released on 14th November 2021. Further books in this crime thriller series will be released in the Spring and Summer of 2022.
