Tricia Fields

Tricia Fields is an accomplished American author, best known for her Josie Gray Mysteries series. Born in Honolulu, Fields grew up in a small town in Indiana before settling down in a log cabin on a small farm with her husband and their various animals. Fields' husband works as an investigator for the state police, and her parents live nearby, often spending time with their many animals.

Fields' love for the desert southwest and Mexico is evident in her writing, particularly in her first mystery book, "The Territory." This novel, which won the Tony Hillerman Prize for Best Mystery, follows protagonist Josie Gray as she navigates the challenges of being the chief of police in a small border town. Fields' personal experiences and love for the region shine through in her vivid descriptions and authentic characters.

In addition to "The Territory," Fields has written a total of five books in the Josie Gray Mysteries series. She is known for her strong female protagonist and her ability to weave together complex plots with nuanced characters. Her writing is influenced by her love of animals, as evidenced by the inclusion of her hound dog, Griz, as a character in her books. Fields' own daughters, Emily and Molly, have also inspired her writing and have followed in their mother's footsteps by attending Purdue University and joining the Air Force, respectively. Fields is proud of their accomplishments and continues to draw inspiration from her family and surroundings in her writing.
