Ty Seidule

Ty Seidule is a historian, educator, and retired U.S. Army brigadier general with a distinguished career in military scholarship. He served for thirty-six years in the Army before retiring in 2020 and taught history at West Point for two decades, earning the title of Professor Emeritus. His written works include contributions to the acclaimed "West Point History of the Civil War," which received critical recognition for its depth and insight.

A specialist in military history, Seidule combines academic rigor with firsthand experience from his decades of service. His research and writings often explore the complexities of American military traditions, institutional memory, and historical legacy. In addition to his scholarly publications, he was appointed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to the National Commission on Base Renaming, where he serves as Vice Chair. Seidule holds a PhD from the Ohio State University and is currently the Chamberlain Fellow at Hamilton College, continuing his work as a New America Fellow.
