VL McBeath, known as Val, is a British author whose writing career began unexpectedly in 2010 while researching her family history. What started as a personal project evolved into "The Ambition & Destiny Series," a five-part family saga with a prequel short story, set in Victorian England. This series explores the trials and triumphs of a family spanning seventy years. Val later expanded her literary repertoire with "The Windsor Street Family Saga," inspired by another ancestor, Nell, a unconventional Victorian woman.
Val's passion for historical storytelling extends to the mystery genre with her "Eliza Thomson Investigates" series, featuring seven standalone cozy mysteries set in the early 20th century. The series follows Eliza, an amateur sleuth married to a village doctor, as she solves crimes alongside her best friend Connie and occasionally her son, Henry. Before becoming an author, Val worked as a scientist in the pharmaceutical industry and later established her own consultancy business. Born in Liverpool, she now resides in Cheshire with her husband and family. Her interests include genealogy, rock music, and supporting Liverpool Football Club.
