Vaseem Khan

Vaseem Khan is a British author who has gained recognition for his creation of the Baby Ganesh Detective Agency series. Khan's debut novel, The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra, was released in 2015 and marked the beginning of the popular series. The books in this series are set in India and feature a law enforcement officer as the main character, along with a baby elephant sidekick.

Khan is known for his vivid storytelling and his ability to transport readers to India through his writing. His first book was a Times bestseller and has been translated into 15 languages. The second book in the series was awarded the Shamus Award in the United States. In 2018, Khan was honored with the Eastern Eye Arts, Culture and Theatre Award for Literature.

In addition to the Baby Ganesh Agency series, Khan has also written a second crime series set in India called the Malabar House historical crime novels. The first book in this series, Midnight at Malabar House, is set in Bombay in 1950 and introduces Persis Wadia, India's first female police detective. In 2021, Midnight at Malabar House won the Crime Writers Association Historical Dagger, the world’s premier award for historical crime fiction. Khan's latest book is The Lost Man of Bombay.

Khan was born in London, but spent a decade working in India as a management consultant. Since 2006, he has worked at University College London’s Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science. Khan's writing is influenced by his experiences in India, and he is known for his engaging and atmospheric storytelling.
