Victor LaValle

Victor LaValle is a renowned American author, celebrated for his works in the genres of science fiction and horror. He earned his English degree from Cornell University and later obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from Columbia University. LaValle's writing career took off in 2002 with the publication of his first novel, The Ecstatic. His impressive body of work also includes other novels like Big Machine and The Changeling, as well as short stories, novellas, and the Destroyer graphic novel series.

LaValle has received numerous accolades for his literary contributions, including a Whiting Writers’ Award, a United States Artists Ford Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Shirley Jackson Award, and an American Book Award. His hometown of Queens, New York, has even honored him with the key to Southeast Queens. He currently resides in Washington Heights with his wife and children, while teaching at Columbia University.
