Victoria Alexander

Victoria Alexander is a New York Times bestselling author, known for her historical romance and fiction novels. Born in Washington, DC in 1965, Alexander began her professional career as a reporter before discovering her interest in fiction. After finding success in full-time fiction writing, she has since written and published a total of 37 books and novellas. Sixteen of these works have become bestsellers, hitting the USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and New York Times bestseller lists.

Alexander's broadcast journalism career played a significant role in her successful writing career. She worked as a reporter in two different areas of the United States: West Virginia and Nebraska. In West Virginia, she covered various man-made and natural disasters, including journalists held hostage by a Vietnam veteran, an accident during the construction of a power plant, coal miners trapped in a mine, and rising floodwaters. These experiences have given her a wealth of knowledge and material to draw from in her writing.

In addition to her work in West Virginia, Alexander also reported on the farm crisis in Nebraska, where she witnessed people losing land that had been in their families for generations. She covered the story that inspired the movie "Boys Don't Cry" and acted as the link between police and a gunman who had barricaded himself in his home. Her investigative work also exposed the trucking of New York City garbage to a small town dump in rural Nebraska. She covered every president from Ford to Clinton during her journalism career.

Alexander's writing has been well-received, with sixteen of her books becoming bestsellers and hitting the New York Times, USA Today, and/or Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. Her book "The Perfect Wife" became number one in the list of the bestselling novels by the NY Times. She has been nominated for the prestigious RITA Award by the RWA on two occasions and was awarded the Career Achievement Award in 2009. She was also labeled as Historical Storyteller in the same year. In 2008, she was invited as a keynote speaker at the annual conference of RWA in San Francisco. Her books have been translated into over a dozen foreign languages, allowing her to reach a vast number of readers worldwide.
