William Arden is a pseudonym of the acclaimed author Dennis Lynds, who was born in 1924. Arden gained significant recognition in 1968 for his work on the Three Investigators book series, starting with the novel "The Mystery of the Moaning Cave." This series, which was originally created by Robert Arthur Jr., features a group of young detectives who solve various mysteries and crimes. Arden's contribution to the series spanned fourteen novels, ultimately concluding in 1989 with "Hot Wheels."
Apart from his work on the Three Investigators series, Arden also created other notable literary works under the same pseudonym. He penned five novels featuring Kane Jackson, a former military policeman turned industrial security specialist. The first book in this series, "A Dark Power," was published in 1968. Additionally, Arden wrote a highly-regarded espionage short story, "Success of a Mission," which was nominated for the 1968 Edgar Award for best short fiction. This demonstrates the author's versatility and range, as he successfully navigated multiple genres, including mystery, detective fiction, and espionage.
